VALENZUELA CITY—Some 66 barangay workers and volunteers of the City of Valenzuela have been designated Safety Officers I (or SO I) following the mandatory 8-Hour Safety and Health Seminar for Workers on November 22, 2019.
The said training was conducted by the Valenzuela City Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (VCTIPC) in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) CAMANAVA Field Office and Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC).
The capacity building intervention was part of the VCTIPC’s agenda on maintaining its linkages with the national, local and barangay government units for the increased awareness on matters concerning labor and employment. In addition, DOLE CAMANAVA Field Office Head Rowella V. Grande said that the linkages will intensify its collaborations at the grass roots level. “Barangay is the smallest unit of the government. Having its officials as allies in increasing their constituents’ awareness on the different labor and employment related updates will be beneficial to the general public,” she said.
Said activity was supported by the Ordinance on Barangay Labor and Employment Committee signed on September 13, 2019. (RELATED NEWS: Valenzuela City TIPC intensifies local committee on labor and employment).
